They should of mentioned that although the katana is sharper, The blade itself is more brittle as a result of being sharper. it would not last as a long as a long sword if you where continually bashing or thrusting at plate plate mail with it (not that anyone would ever do that). Also The katana's design makes it less effective if you were to to use half swording with it. The katana may be much sharper and possibly better forged, but it was not designed with plate Armour in mind and would be useless against it, whereas with a longsword, though not designed to be used against armor, gives you some options against it and is arguably more reliable and versatile than a katana which is a more specialized weapon. The katana is far more better suited against people who are not nearly as armored.
This is retarded. They made the katana win because it had better steel and weight. Ever thought on P=vm and N/m^2.
......they're built differently because they're supposed to be used differently-hate to say it (not really), but all sword fighting does simply consist of hack & slash >.<

To he fair, Katana better for offense, but long sword is more complete, long sword will do better if a warrior need to fight multiple enemies, swing and swirl against several person, also perform better at parry weapons. This video conclusion is arbitrary.
I love katana
The longsword probably would've had a bit of better results if it were approached using the very edge, even though it probably would've seemed a bit tricky and more dangerous. (I'M SAYING FOR EVERY TIME USED!! I know it was used like that at least once in the video!) The very edge tends to look 2-3x more sharper than the sides. Still, I believe the swords both are very beautiful in the art, but are truly deadly.

The issue with the katana, however, is that it requires immense training. Since the blade is extremely brittle, a novice would break the blade in mere seconds. This is because of the high amount of C in the blade, which makes it harder. European swords were made of better metal, making them easier to use, and more versatile as well. I'm not saying the katana sucks, but it's not an insane, magical killing machine.
